Tight skin, rough knuckles, chapped lips? Say hello to winter. Bad news this season is about to wreak havoc from head-to-toe. Let’s show this season  who’s boss! We gathered some life saving Winter  Tips to keep skin happily hydrated throughout the cold snap. From tip to toe, here’s how to treat your skin – starting now.

   Keeping  hydrated

Your skin will become drier and often more sensitive with the onset of colder weather and various forms of heating. Make sure you keep hydrated during the day, swap your coffee for green tea which has great anti-oxidant effects. Gentle cleansing is a must, you need your skin barrier to be as healthy as possible so that it can retain vital moisturise. Your skin barrier is the roof of your house, we do not want leaky roofs. If your skin feels tight after washing it is likely that the cleanser you are using is not the one you need this season. Skin should feel calm and hydrated after washing, if you are reaching immediately for your moisturiser you may want to consider a gentler cleanser. We really love Prologic Precleanse oil, this luxurious product balances the skin’s natural epidermal lipids and repairing the skin. Pair this with the cream cleanser and you have a nourishing hydrating winner

    Tweak your daily skincare routine

If you are having to apply a moisturiser during the day or like mentioned above you are reaching for your moisturiser straight after cleansing, it is likely your skin routine needs tweaking. You I got need to switch to a cream cleanser, add in a hydrating spray like the one from Prologic. We also LOVE Prologic’s Omega 3 oil in winter, rich in essential fatty acids. Winter is the perfect time to work on pigmentation, so if this is a concern for you then maybe it time to switch to the Prologic 3 step pigmentation range.

We know winter is the season we just want to hibernate , however winter is a great time of year for skin treatments. We tend to shy away from peels and laser treatment in the summer months. With sun exposure before or after such procedures there is a higher risk of unwanted post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation. Autumn and winter therefore presents us with the perfect opportunity  to work on those thing we avoid in summer, reducing age spots, pigmentation, scarring and many other concerns. Another suggestion? Rather than waiting  for summer, now is the time to start tackling unwanted hair with a course of IPL Hair Removal.

     Consider professional skin treatments

Winter skin is often dull, we recommend a professional facial at least every three to four weeks. That’s how long it takes your skin to move through the full life cycle of skin cell growth so for winter we also would recommend a Prologic Specialised Customisable Facial. Using the Prologic Enzyme oil treatment you will encourage cell turnover, allow better absorption of active topical skincare and leave feeling smooth and simply glowing.  Regular facials will help to keep your skin clean, clear and hydrated whilst maximizing your everyday skincare regime too.

      You still need SPF

Just because it is winter, it doesn’t mean you should put away your sunscreen. Whilst there is less UVB around in winter, levels of UVA (or UV-ageing as we like to call is) are still significant enough to age our skin.  Think about switching your makeup to Jane Iredale, its mineral with a natural SPF and easy to top up especially as you dash out at lunch time.
